Summer saw substantial progress at the Bicclescombe Nursery site with builders Poltaire busy laying foundations for the first of 16 units of social housing, writes ICLT chair Mark Read. It wasn't long before timber frames and walls followed, transforming the once empty plot into the beginnings of a cul-de-sac of homes for local Ilfracombe families.
Meanwhile, Board members of the Ilfracombe Community Land Trust were delighted to welcome all of the partners who have worked so closely with us to a summer site visit. Representatives from North Devon Council, DCC, Middlemarch CIC, Gates Construction, Homes England and Aster Housing Association met with the Board and the developers, Poltaire, to discuss the project's progress and ask questions. It was also an opportunity to thank everyone involved for all their hard work in making this project a success. Seeing everyone gathered together really cemented for Board members the importance of positive partnership working throughout the development of social housing at Bicclescombe Nursery.
